Smoke and Vision

If the pandemic wasn’t enough of a concern, we are now faced with smoke and haze in Colorado. As many of you may have noticed, your vision may be affected.

We have several offices around the state. Each of which have noticed more patients experiencing smoke irritation. With wildfires across Colorado and the western United States, more patients feeling the pain in their vision. Some days are better than others. Some air quality has been good while other days it is difficult to get out doors.

Are you feeling allergies or smoke? Here are a few things to watch for:

  • Irritants and discomfort in the eyes. Smoke causes particulate matter in the air, which may cause eyes to become dry, red and itchy.
  • Severe cases – impaired vision.
  • A more intense feeling of allergies.

What can I do to help my eyes get some relief?

  • Artificial tears.
  • Keep windows closed.
  • Avoid exposure.
